INGREDIENTS : Palak paneer recipe

  • Spinach - 500g
  • Paneer - 300 grams (cut into cubes of 1 inch square pieces)
  • Tomatoes 2
  •  Green Chili 1
  •  Ginger - 1 inch long piece
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida - 1-2 pinch
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - Less than 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt as required
  • Besan - 1 table spoon
  • Garam Masala - less than 1/4 teaspoon
  • Green Coriander - 1-2 table spoons (finely chopped)
  • Cream for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 2 table spoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large onion finely chopped

DIRECTION : Palak paneer recipe 

Step 1 : Break the spinach's poles and remove them, wash the leaves thoroughly 2 times and dry them in the sieve.Put spinach, 1 table spoon water in a vessel. Cover it and boil for 5 minutes on a low flame. After that, let it cool down.

Step 2 : Drain excess water and transfer spinach to a medium size jar of a mixer grinder.Add green chillies and grind until smooth puree.If required add few teaspoon of water while grinding.

Step 3 : Heat a non-sticky pan and add oil over medium flame .when oil is ready then add paneer (cheese) cubes .Fry them until the paneer sides turn light brown (you can use paneer without frying in recipe).Transfer them to a plate and let them cool down and remove excess oil.

Step 4 : Heat a pan again and add 2 tablespoon oil and 1 tablespoon butter together in the same pan over medium flame.Add cumin seeds and saute for seconds.Add finely chopped onion and fry until it turns translucent.Add ginger-garlic  paste and stir fry for 30 seconds.

Step 5 :Add spinach puree and salt.stir and cook for 2-3 minutes.Add 1/3 cup of water mix well and bring it to boil.Stir occasionally in between.  

Step 6 : When gravy begins to boil add shallow fried paneer pieces and cook for 3-4 minutes.Add lemon juice and kasoori methi mix well.  

Step 7 : Turn on the flame and mix milk creame.
